Alien Spouse feeds his Christmas Cake its daily dose of brandy. In England, these fruit-laden cakes are baked weeks in advance. Liquor dribbled through skewered holes keeps the treat moist and adds flavor until Dec. 25th. Then, it’s painted with marzipan and hard icing. “The booze-laden version [of fruitcake],” says the Cake’s Wet Nurse, “Is superior in many ways.”
